The 2022 tax season has begun! We always accept returns from prior years.
Due to the health measures put in place to combat the spread of COVID-19, a majority of companies have asked their employees to work from home. If you are one of these workers and you have mainly worked from home for at least four weeks in a row in 2022, be aware that some of your expenses related to this situation could be deducted from your tax return. To do this, two methods are available: temporary fixed rate method and the detailed method .
The temporary fixed rate method in brief:
More specifically, an individual will be able to claim, in his 2021 and 2022 income tax returns, a deduction of $2 for each day he worked at home during these years. As the pandemic has led employers and employees to favor telework for all of 2021, the number of eligible days is increasing from 200 to 250 days per year.
The detailed method in brief:
If you choose the itemized method, be aware that you will need to determine the size and use of the space you used for the work in order to calculate the reasonable proportion of the deduction amount. The Canada Revenue Agency presents on its website how to do this calculation .
Note that workers for whom teleworking was already part of their employment contract before the pandemic cannot take advantage of these measures. They will have to complete the usual forms related to home office expenses.
Normally our processing time is 2-7 business days. However, over the weeks, the delay can be increased. Rest assured that you will be notified, and that we will not process your return if you wish to cancel your request to us.
You can follow the following link to access our appointment platform, or contact us at (581) 986-8293, or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
My pleasure! If at some point we can no longer, we will let you know. Also note that a note to this effect will be added to our website. We accept customers from all over Quebec!
When you mandate us to process your tax return, we absolutely must ensure that all your information is accurate. Completing this form will ensure that your declaration is processed more quickly.
Please note that we use JotForm, a secure platform to receive your form. Indeed, JotForm takes the security of your data very seriously. All links to JotForm forms and embed codes are secure (SSL) by default.
This list is not exhaustive, but in general, all the documents to provide us are those relating to your income, medical expenses, day care expenses, investment income, RRSP contribution, reimbursement of a HBP or LLP, income from pension, Relevé 31 issued by your landlord, student fees and more, depending on your situation.
It is also strongly recommended that you provide us with your federal and provincial notices of assessment for the previous year, as these notices sometimes contain transferable credits from year to year, which allows you to save on your taxes payable.
If your declaration has not been sent, we can add it without problem. If it has already been transmitted to the governments, we could proceed with a rectification, for a small additional cost.
Note, however, that sometimes the government carries out the correction itself, without any adjustment being necessary.
Please also note that we always rely on the documents that you give us, and that it will be impossible for us to issue you a refund, if we unfortunately did not have the document in hand.
Because it's the law. As an agent for processing your tax return, we are required to obtain your signature, which then authorizes us to transmit your returns over the Internet, using software approved and authorized by the Government of Quebec and Canada.
We accept signatures by hand, but also electronically, since 2021.
According to the Government of Quebec, the types of electronic signatures we accept are as follows:
- A digital signature (generated using a digital certificate produced using a specialized tool)
- A handwritten signature affixed using a technological accessory (for example, a stylus, a touch screen or a mouse)
- A digitized handwritten signature (for example, the affixing of the image of a signature).
Unfortunately, we currently do not process returns with foreign income.
